Acupuncture And Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture And Chinese Medicine
By Roger Thompson

Today in most western cultures Chinese medicine is considered a
"new alternative" medicine. In reality are practiced
medical treatments that are over 5,000 years old. Basically,
Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles, (sometimes in
conjunction with electrical stimulus), on the body's surface, in
order to influence physiological functioning of the body.
Chinese medicine has been around since the start of time and is
more widely used now than ever before. There are many different
systems that are included in Chinese medicine and one of the
most significant and one of the most popular relationships of
all here is the one between alternative and Chinese
medicine.

When it comes to alternative and Chinese medicine,
one of the most important things that you need to know is that
you need to understand the actual intent of the therapy itself
in order to get the best results. The goal of acupuncture
therapy is to promote health and to alleviate pain and
suffering. It is the technique of inserting thin needles through
the skin at certain specific points on the body in order to
control pain and other symptoms.Acupuncture can also be used in
conjunction with heat produced by burning specific herbs, this
is called Moxibustion. In addition, a non-invasive method of
massage therapy, called Acupressure, can also be effective.

The person performing the therapy is known as an
acupuncturist, and they are able to influence health and
sickness by stimulating certain areas on the body that are known
as meridians. It is now one of the most popular therapies in the
world and one that evolved from principles and philosophies that
are truly unique to oriental thinking and medicine in general.
In order to understand about alternative and Chinese
medicine you truly need to become familiar with the basics of
Chinese philosophy in general and with Chinese medicine.

There are many diseases that can be treated successfully by
Acupuncture or its related treatments. The most common ailments
currently being treated are: lower backache, Cervical
Spondylosis,

Condylitis, Arthritic Conditions, Headaches of all
kinds (including migraine), Allergic Reactions, general and
specific use for Analgesia (including surgery) and relief of
muscles spasms. There have also been clinical trials in the use
of in treating anxiety disorders and depression.
Likewise, very high success rates have been found in treating
addictions to alcohol, tobacco (nicotine) and "hard' drugs.
Acupuncture can rid the body of the physical dependency, but can
not rid the mind of the habit (psychological dependency). For
this reason, treatment of addictions has not been
fully successful.

Chinese medicine, including alternative and Chinese
medicine, is one of the most widely practiced forms of medicine
in the world and is definitely one that you will want to become
more familiar with. If you are interested in getting more
information on this you should speak to your doctor, or you can
do research on your own time.

Also remember that you can use Chinese medicine, or
other, in conjunction with more conservative methods of
treatment, such as prescription medication for instance. Your
health should come before anything, and so although alternative
and natural medicine can be incredibly effective, if your
illness or disease is very advanced you may have to rely on
conventional methods of treatment, at least until you get the
problem until control. The philosophy behind Chinese medicine is
that each patient should be treated as a whole and that the
focus should be on their entire well being rather than just on
the symptoms they are presently experiencing. This is why
Chinese medicine is so much more effective and successful
overall than the methods used in Western medicine.
